He has a doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University, and an M.S. degree in Health Promotion and Wellness. Additionally, he is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), and teaches applied learning courses in the Health and Wellness Program. Throughout his career, Dr. Lindner has directed and coordinated over $7 million grant dollars in prevention projects related to student leadership, campus health promotion, social ecology, and population health improvement. These projects aimed to expand and improve college and community health through prevention and leadership education programs designed to change individual behaviors and community-level factors.

In 2016, he developed a student health ambassador program as a means of providing future health professionals with the opportunity to function as educators and liaisons between the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics department and Buffalo State students. In 2017, he became a Certified Peer Educator Trainer for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA). Recently, in recognition for his commitment to engagement in teaching, research, and service, he was awarded the Mid-Career Faculty Award for Community Engagement (2021) and the Leadership in Community Engagement Award (2024) from our Office of Civic and Community Engagement.
